We are Covenantal
A covenant represents an oath-bound connection between two or more parties. This definition encompasses divine covenants between God and Man, but also human covenants, such as marriage or local church membership.
In the context of the school, we can only truly succeed by partnering with families who strongly desire a classical, Christian education and are compatible with the school’s faith, methods and philosophy.
A Shared Commitment
Among all institutions, only the family is entrusted with the noble task of raising and nurturing children.
We adhere to the principle of in loco parentis. Our teachers do not assume the parents’ responsibility, but assist, providing training and guidance in the classroom in alignment with the efforts of Christian parents in their homes.
A covenantal model school is often contrasted with an evangelistic model school. In the covenantal model, the school works in harmony with the home and church. A covenantal school exclusively admits children of believing parents.
Evangelistic schools are comprised of those from devout Christian backgrounds along with non-believing families. A significant part of their mission involves striving to bring about the conversion of students who have no exposure to the Gospel at home or in a church setting.
Although both models provide a crucial service to the Kingdom, we believe a school owes its community a solid commitment to one of these models prior to enrollment. Saint George Classical School is firmly a covenantal model school. The faculty, families, and students of the school will be consistently Christian every year, unified by the bond of faith.
